Company Overview:
At Phantom Compliance, we have been managing financial compliance since 2009. We provide a one-stop service for the modern financial sector, specializing in end-to-end Money Services Business (MSB) support.
Our work involves the practical application of FINTRAC reporting, the Retail Payments Activities Act (RPAA), and the development of Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) programs. We provide the regulatory framework for clients building banking solutions or managing digital assets, handling the heavy lifting of compliance so our clients can focus on their business goals.
Position Overview:
Are you a recent accounting or finance graduate eager to kickstart your career in a rapidly evolving sector? We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Technician who loves the technical side of bookkeeping and is excited about the future of finance. In this role, you will bridge the gap between cutting-edge blockchain payments and traditional financial records. You don’t need to be an experienced bookkeeper yet; if you bring foundational accounting knowledge, a high degree of tech-savviness, and an eagerness to learn, we will give you the tools and mentorship to succeed.
What You Will Do:
- Full-Cycle AP & AR: Handle accounts payable and receivable, including multi-currency invoicing and monthly bank reconciliations.
- Daily Financial Operations: Manage daily opening and closing procedures, prepare financial summaries, and report anomalies or compliance red flags directly to the COO.
- Crypto & Cloud Reconciliation: Match crypto payments and post them to QuickBooks Online, acting as the link between digital wallets and our core accounting software.
- Payroll Administration: Verify biweekly payroll funding to ensure accurate, timely employee compensation.
- Tax Prep & Reporting: Prepare data for corporate tax returns and generate regular financial statements to identify discrepancies or trends.
- Compliance Maintenance: Ensure all financial records meet Canadian regulatory standards and help prepare documentation for audits.
Is this role right for you?
- Experience: A recent degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Hands-on experience through a co-op, internship, or entry-level bookkeeping role is a strong asset.
- Software Skills: Mastery of QuickBooks Online, HubSpot and Google Workspace.
- Detail Focus & Reliability: Driven by extreme accuracy and a proven track record of consistently meeting deadlines while working independently in a hybrid office environment.
Bonus points if you have:
- At least 1 years of experience as a sole bookkeeper for a medium-sized business if a plus.
- Digital Asset Expertise: A practical understanding of how to record blockchain-based transactions. You should be comfortable navigating block explorers (like Etherscan) to verify transaction hashes against QBO entries.
What is in it for you?
- Professional Development: Kickstart your career with ongoing paid learning opportunities, including courses from the Canadian Securities Institute (CSI), to build your resume and expertise.
- Flexible Work Environment: Benefit from a hybrid schedule designed to support a healthy work-life balance and it is perfect for a recent grad studying for further certifications.
- Supportive Culture: Enjoy a boutique company culture where you will receive direct mentorship and support from the executive team to ensure your success.
- Collaborative Team: Work with a highly dedicated team committed to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIB) initiatives.
At Phantom Compliance, we value the unique skills and experiences each individual brings to the Company, and are committed to creating and maintaining an inclusive and accessible environment for everyone.
If you require accommodation during the recruitment and selection process, please let us know. We thank all applicants for their interest in a career at Phantom Compliance; however, only those candidates who are selected for an interview will be contacted.
